Fallen Stars

I haven't always seen this way
Through eyes that gaze away from grace
But how could I
With shades to draw and wicked hands to hide?
The guilty found a way to fall
And Gravity just laughed
And said, "You all will go down slow"
I haven't always seen this far
From altitudes of unknown stars
But after all
The brightest always find a way to fall
Careful what you come here for
Don't come close enough to ask for more
Just come down slow
Come on, tell me to look outside
Come on, tell me what to find
Come on, open the falling sky
Come on, what have I to hide?

Content to Be Statues
02:50

How's life in the high rise
With you unabashedly blue skies?
Do you see only outlines
Of frames below
And a vague guiding light?
When you're walking on faultlines
Do you see how to sun lies?
Have you gone on for miles a day
Just to keep away
From the earth when it shakes?
How low does the pressure get you down?
How long until passion can level you out?
Is sorrow no more than a distant shore?
Does it wither you down or are you
Content to be statues?
I was painting a grey sky
The only color that felt right
The only way to escape
When you called to say
They can break this blue behavior
But now I'm chasing a dim light
Couldn't wait until sunrise
So when trouble tracks me down
I'll be waiting with a baited line
How low does the pressure get you down?
How long until passion can level you out?
Is sorrow no more than a distant shore?
Does it wither you down or are you
Content to be all they want
And all they know?

Visions of the Sun
02:09

I got nothing left to say
I got nothing left to do
'Cause hesitation's always faster than elation
And promises are cursed to come true
I go nowhere left to go
No place to be alone
'Cause everyone is looking like a loaded gun
And guarding all the ways to get home
And it's ordinary life
Give a penny, take a wife
You don't have to ask
It's okay, it's all right
There will be no leaving
Till your time is all but gone
You'll hide and you will run
From the visions of the sun
I got no one left to chase
'Cause I've been too long away
And all the pieces must be somewhere out of reach
In places I can only hope to be
I go no more time to kill
And chances are I never will
'Cause hesitation's always waiting at the station
Begging all the cars to keep still
And it's ordinary life
Give a penny, take a wife
You don't have to ask
It's okay, it's all right
There will be no leaving
Till your time is all but gone
You'll hide and you will run
From the visions of the sun
